National Gallery of Canada

One of Ottawa’s most famous museums is the National Gallery of Canada. Its building made of glass and granite with octagonal towers was designed by the famous architect Moshe Safdi and was built in 1988. True, many during an external examination are not only struck by the building itself, but by what it faces. And this is neither more nor less than an almost ten-meter metal spider, which is quite an eerie look.

The gallery was created in 1880 by the Governor of Canada and in the first years occupied one building with the Supreme Court. Subsequently, the gallery moved to the Victoria Memorial Museum (now the Canadian Museum of Nature). In 1985, a new museum of modern photography was attached to the gallery. And in 2000, the new gallery building was included by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in the 500 best buildings in the country built over the past millennium. Continue reading

Canadian cuisine is hardly original. In gastronomic terms, Canadians do not shine with imagination. When asked what to try in Canada, french fries, burgers and donuts come to mind. GORILLA Granby

Victoriously marching around the planet, the year of the eastern monkey, decided to look into a small town with the unpretentious name Granby, which was leisurely located in the southern spurs of Quebec. The city-forming enterprise of this small (only 70K inhabitants) village is the zoo, one of the largest in Canada. The animals that have fled here, almost from all corners of the world, feel safe and calm. Well, it’s straight, almost like runaway fuses from those corners …
We, walking along the shady alleys of the park, became interested in aviaries with our closest (by evolution, and not by the registry office) relatives – primates. The Afrika Pavilion is essentially an invasion of the rainforest and the African savannah at the same time. Without a doubt, it is one of the main exciting motives for a visit to the Granby Zoo. 3 here we are all curious visitors, we suddenly feel that we left North America on another continent! In the very center, about ten species of the most beloved African animals await you. Continue reading
